eleanor: six months!

weight/height
just went to the doctors this week- 15lbs 11.8oz, 26in long, 17in head circumference (compared to henry at 6 months- 18lbs, 27 1/4in, and same head circumference). she definitely has a long torso and when trying to put sweatshirts on you can tell she has a big head. lots of room for brains.

health
the day before she turned 6 months she woke up with a runny nose and had a fever. she wasnt a huge fan but still stayed happy through it all for the most part. she had a tough time falling asleep at night and naps but slept well once she was asleep. i added a humidifier on the second night and its almost all cleared up now (no ear infection or anything and just a fever that one day which im thankful for). sick babies are no fun but shes still the bestest.

clothes
she is basically skipping 6 month clothes. seriously. her head doesnt fit through anything that doesnt have a snap opening in the top, and shes too long for most of the pajamas with feet (the top doesnt come up enough over her shoulders). she also is almost too long for the 0-9 month sleep sacks (note to self, need to buy bigger size sleep sacks). luckily i have a huge tub of 9-12 month clothes that 2 friends gave me a long time ago (that i never thought we would grow into, especially not this quickly!) and another friend from work gave me a huge bag the other day. so ive got all of that washed and ready to go, all of the 3-6 month stuff is (for the most part) packed away, and a lot of 6 month stuff is already in a pile on the floor to be dealt with.

sleep
this little one loves to sleep. fairly solid sleep routine going on for the most part, 2 small naps during the day, 1 long nap (2-3 hours), and in bed by 7pm, awake around 6am. knock on wood this sticks around (i know henry had already gone through a sleep regression by this time, and i know of others 5-6 month olds who are still not sleeping through the night). i know that we are very lucky.

crying
lots of tears when shes been sick. i dont blame her. other than that, shes a happy camper.

milestones
she can sit up on her own for a brief period before she folds herself forward like a little pretzel. she can roll from her back to her stomach and to her back again. she reaches out for toys (and faces!) and grabs on to things, pulls them to her (mostly to her mouth). she can move backwards in the walker and tries to help feed herself. shes eating many solid foods (funny word since its far from solid), talking up a storm, and pooping around the clock. healthy little chunker. she also has two teeth!

oh hi friends!

baby gear love
the walker, the bouncer, the high chair, the humidifier... this is a silly category as i feel like all things for babies are helpful in some way (maybe not a bottle warmer or wipes warmer, we never had those things and i think they sound like a waste). her big thighs barely fit in the bumbo seat any more and i feel like i didnt use it nearly as much as with henry (maybe because shes much smaller than he was and i just carry her around a lot more?). she likes sitting in the high chair even when she isnt eating and can just play with the toys on her tray. shes very happy in the bouncer and loves working on her jumps. most of the time she spends in the walker she spends pooping, so if/when we hear her farting we usually put her in the walker so that she will poop. babies are weird. were solely using dr. browns bottles (with henry we used tommee tippie). we have a few avent bottles but the milk comes out of the nipples too fast for her still.

outings
now that she has her flu shot we will go to all the places! not likely. but at least shes a bit more protected now. big trip is coming up next month when we will head to illinois to see all of my family.

diapers
size 3 target brand (and a few huggies that my friend from work gave us).

diet
kid loves to eat, no surprise. 6oz bottles in the morning plus a veggie, then fruits and veggies plus 2-4oz bottles during the day. so far we have tried: sweet potatoes, pears, carrots, bananas, avocado, peaches, pumpkin, peas, and apples. she did not like avocado at all, and we havent forced it. she didnt like peas either but i added them to pears and she gobbles them down. sounds gross to me but whatever works. she needs more green, she literally is turning orange.

no thank you to peas

likes
food, talking and blowing raspberries when she has food in her mouth, duke & chips, bathtime, pooping, henry moving her around in the walker, car rides, watching videos with papa

dislikes
being sick, the booger sucker, getting her clothes changed, walks in the stroller

maybe once it gets a little warmer

also a no to avocado, thanks for trying

it seriously blows my mind that 6 months have gone by since you arrived! i am sure the next 6 months will go by just as fast, if not faster. you are learning something new every day and the love between you and your big brother is amazing to watch. we love you so much, ellie bear (ellie bugs, elles, stinker, pumpkin, etc etc etc). xoxo.
